Five years ago, Hear the World, a global initiative was set up by Swiss Company Phonak to raise awareness of our most important sense: hearing.
The goals of the campaign:
To help us appreciate how important our hearing is
To inform us of the consequences of hearing loss
To educate us about hearing protection
To show us the solutions which are available to improve hearing
The campaign is supported by more than 50 celebrity ambassadors including Mick Jagger, Sting, Jude Law, Sir Ben Kingsley, Take That, Annie Lennox and the latest, inductee, Scottish singer songwriter K T Tunstall, whose brother, Daniel, is profoundly deaf.
The Hear The World Foundation was also launched at the same time to provide support for children with hearing loss through financial and equipment aid.
We have been heavily involved with the project since its inception and our Director of Audiology Robert acts as a spokesperson for the charity contributing to the Hear The World magazine and as a professional expert on the global HTW website.
